MBS FileMaker Plugin, version 5.2pr8

New in this prerelease of the 5.2 plugins:
  • Fixed variable declaration check for FileMaker 14.
  • Added RichText.ReadHTML and RichText.ReadRTF functions.
  • Added mutex so trace logs don't mess up on server with multiple threads logging.
  • Added new print options for WebView.SetPrintParameter: PaperName, PaperWidth and PaperHeight.
  • Changed IsError function to be more thread safe and work better on FileMaker server.
  • Fixed an issue with Syntax Coloring on FM 14.
  • Changed the variable declaration check to show user notification, because we can't show it inline for FM 14.
  • Updated DynaPDF to version 3.0.40.122.
  • Fixed issues with TWAIN plugin by working more asynchronously. This helps getting plugin work with drivers it did not work before. But the modal parameter is no longer used.
Download at monkeybreadsoftware.de/filemaker/files/Prerelease/ or ask for being added to the dropbox shared folder.

Checking Variable Declarations in FileMaker with MBS Plugin

While at DevCon I fixed a few bugs for the variable declaration checking in our MBS Plugin.
You all probably know the syntax highlighting feature which also got a bug fix for FileMaker 14 yesterday.

So this is what the script workspace looks like for FileMaker 14 if you have an undefined variable:

As you see we have a variable $test7 which is not defined, so we show a red warning on the right side of the line.
We also show a notification:

The variable check needs to be enabled by the developer using the MBS( "SyntaxColoring.CheckVariableDeclaration.Enable" ) function call. The plugin will mark all variables as undefined which are not declared in a "Set Variable" script step.

PS: 5.2pr8 plugin is available later today.

Greetings from FileMaker DevCon

Are you in Las Vegas for FileMaker DevCon? We are here with our booth:

FileMaker DevCon in two weeks

Just two weeks left until FileMaker Developer Conference in Las Vegas. Currently traveling through Norway, I will move from very cold weather with still a lot of snow to the Mojave desert of Nevada.

The Developer Conference is a great chance to meet over 1200 other FileMaker developers from all around the world. Not to forget that Las Vegas is a great place to visit!

Even if you are not so interested in casinos, you can take a car and drive outside the city to visit some desert like Red Rock Canyon. Or drive to Boulder and visit the Hoover Dam.

And did you know that if you sign up as a company with a group of 4 developers, the 4th ticket is free?

MBS will be present with a booth, so visit us there!
Anyone wants some German specialties like the famous gummy bears?

FileMaker Meeting in Kiel

We had a nice small FileMaker user meeting in Kiel, Germany:

Sadly two people didn't show up, but well, I have been to meetings ranging from one to 29 people in the last years :-)
