MBS Xojo Developer Conference

The MBS Xojo conference is approaching soon. With 50 attendees from 12 countries so far, we have the biggest event ever in Europe for Xojo and Real Studio developers!
This is your chance to meet a lot of other developers. Of course you can travel next year to Las Vegas, but our conference may be closer to your home and easier to get to.

For training we have bad news: We will probably not have the iOS enabled Xojo version for coding there. So we concentrate on Web, Desktop and Console. iOS support will be presented by Stephane at the conference, so it's not completely gone.

Today we visited the beer garden and here are two shots from our hotel towards the kiosk and the hotel. We will reserve space where you can meet the group in the evenings before/after sessions. In case of bad whether you find us at the bar.

CMYK Colors

One of the features of our MBS Plugins is the handling of CMYK colors. If you work with computers most images are RGB with red, green and blue as colors. But if you work with printers, you may have seen CMYK images with cyan, magenta, yellow and black colors. That translates directly to the printer and each pixel specifies how much ink is needed for printing. When you print, the printer or the computer has somewhere to translate from RGB (display screen) to CMYK (printer).

DynaPDF

Our MBS DynaPDF Plugin handles CMYK in various places. First you can use any color space including CMYK for drawings. You can draw a line in cyan if you like. Also if you insert images, the image will be converted to the current color space and placed in the PDF. For CMYK images you better go and load a CMYK color space before you place the image. Else it is converted to your current colorspace which is normally RGB.

With 13.4 plugin we include a new CMYK example project to show how to place CMYK images. Especially with all the settings to make sure the image is included as is. This way DynaPDF does not change colors and not compress image for best results.

JPEG and TIFF

Our TIFF and JPEG plugins can handle CMYK images. Of course we can't easily give you a picture object. But we can give you scan lines or whole image as memoryblock. With 13.4 plugins we also include sample project here to show how to work with CMYK images.

LCMS, Apple ColorSync and Windows Color System

With MBS Plugin you have various color matching engines at hand. First we have LCMS which is a lightweight, but powerful color matching engine. It can load, edit and save ICC profiles and apply them in color transformations. Second we have Apple's ColorSync which also does color matching as well as Microsoft's Windows Color System. Both are of course platform dependent, but can be extended by plugins. And you can also use Adobe's engine.

Our plugin comes with examples showing how to load profiles and apply transformations. Both for picture object in RGB and memory blocks in other color spaces.

PictureMBS

The PictureMBS class in our LargePicture plugin can handle CMYK. Not with all images, but if you have a memoryblock with CMYK data, you can use our plugin class to apply functions like rotation or mirror here. Than you can get the memoryblock of the image back in CMYK and write it to a file.
With 13.4 plugins we include sample projects for that.

NSImage & CIImage

With Cocoa and CoreImage classes you also have color matching. In Cocoa application by default things are matched automatically. And CoreImage can also do this matching with using GPU so it is much faster.

Beer garden

Today we stopped at the Vulkan Brauerei, a local brewery. They have a really nice beer garden there with a playground for the kids. We had lunch there and Michael enjoyed the slide and the seesaw. Also we like the face that kids below 120 cm eat for free.

Now if you come to us someday for a training session or a consulting meeting, we can drive there. Just 3 miles.

Seven month till XDC 2014

Just seven months until the Xojo Developer Conference 2014 in Las Vegas.




The Monte Carlo has a big parking garage. From there you walk over a bridge into the hotel. On the picture above you see the hotel main entrance from the top level of the parking garage, the main hall with the registration on the left and two snapshots from the pool area. They have several pools including one with waves and one where you use floating tires.

Today we add support for the Dash application. It looks like some developers use it and we created today the feeds for our help.

San Diego Xojo Developer Meeting

After returning from the USA, I can report you that we had a nice dinner event with some Xojo developers.

Well, we went from the Hilton Hotel to the gaslamp quarter and found this nice restaurant barleymash.

San Diego Xojo & Real Studio Meeting

Friday we have meeting here. Come at about 6 pm to the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in San Diego and you find me at the bar or the lobby.

I'll probably weak a Xojo T-Shirt.

Would be nice to meet a couple of developers here. So far we already have 10 people who said they would be coming here.

We later either go to the Gaslamp Quarter or stay in the hotel restaurant for dinner.

At the Filemaker DevCon 2013 in San Diego

We have a booth here (#12) and you are welcome to join us here.
Today was the Keynote and they showed a few amazing things they are working on. And after that keynote, we had the welcome reception party.

Xojo Developer Meeting in Los Angeles and San Diego

They develop a web portal called ActionItem.Tracker and he will talk about how they did it and what things you need to take care of. Especially how they handle session management, emails, security and user interface.

Xojo & Real Studio Meetings in Los Angeles and San Diego

Interested Xojo (Real Studio) developers can join a dinner with us and other developers in southern California.

• 7th August, 6pm at the Santa Monica Pier. We will probably have dinner at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant.
• 16th August, 6pm at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. We either stay in the hotel for dinner or we walk from there to the gas lamp quarter.

For each meeting, please email us, so we keep you updated. Especially if we have your email and/or mobile phone number, we can keep you updated about the exact location for dinner. So you can find us if you are late.
For a few guests to those events we have little presents to raffle.

Meeting & Conference Rooms here in Nickenich

Today we visited the new conference and meeting rooms here in the local hotel Burgklause.

In the past we already had clients stay in this three star hotel.
But with those new rooms, well it may be much easier to quickly get here a room for a meeting if needed. So if you take one of our offers for personal or group trainings here in our office, we could always decide to go to the rooms in the hotel. Especially if you also stay there.
