Copy examples from documentation to FileMaker
Did you know that you can copy the text or XML from our example snippets?
And for the XML then paste it on macOS and Windows to your Script Workspace?
Since version 16.0 we have the easier copy and paste of XML to and from the clipboard. See blog article: Copy and paste XML in FileMaker. In the last weeks we worked through 6735 example snippets to make sure they all have valid XML.
The conversion goes mostly automatically. For this we made a little script to convert text to XML. But it only does about 45 script steps in English, that we need for our snippets:
#, Allow User Abort, Close Window, Commit Records/Requests, Constrain Found Set, Delete All Records, Display Dialog, Else, Else if, End If, End Loop, Exit Application, Exit Current Script, Exit Loop If, Exit Script, Export Field Contents, Flush Cache to Disk, Go to Field, Go to Layout, Go to Record/Request/Page, Go to Related Record, Halt Script, If, Insert Current Time, Insert from Device, Insert from URL, Insert Picture, Install Menu Set, Install OnTimer Script, Loop, New Record/Request, New Window, Open URL, Pause Script, Perform Find, Perform Script, Perform Script on Server, Print, Replace Field Contents, Save Records as PDF, Send Mail, Set Error Capture, Set Error Logging, Set Field, Set Field By Name, Set Variable, Set Web Viewer, and Show Custom Dialog.
The converter is available on the website here and may help to convert some more texts from blog articles.
